Thanksgiving Week in The District Detroit’s Offers Entertainment, Sports for All

With Thanksgiving around the corner, The District Detroit is heating up with big sales and events for November’s big food and sports-filled week and the holiday season ahead.
A variety of live entertainment and sporting events are on schedule for the four-day weekend, including the Detroit Lions game against the Chicago Bears at Ford Field, and the annual America’s Thanksgiving Day Parade presented by Art Van.
During the parade, Tigers Alumni Lance Parrish and Dave Rozema—and Detroit’s favorite mascot, PAWS—will join participants as the parade saunters down Woodward Avenue.
In addition to the annual Turkey Day traditions, festivities this year will include a “Gobble, Gobble” party at Mike’s Pizza Bar, tailgating and children’s activities, such as patio games, face painting and inflatables. Foodies will also be served from early morning hours ‘til night time.
Mike Pizza Bar will serve a special breakfast pizza, while Hockeytown Café’s pop-up breakfast stand will feature hot turkey sandwiches and cinnamon cake doughnuts, among other tasty treats. Later, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., MotorCity Casino Hotel’s Assembly Line outpost will serve a Thanksgiving Feast featuring slow-roasted turkey, juicy prime rib, and plenty of traditional and not-so-traditional side dishes.
Throughout the week, the Red Wings and Pistons will host three home games; while 313 Presents and other local venues will host a steady stream of holiday-themed shows and live music performances including Disney Junior Holiday Party! On Tour, The Illusionists’ Magic of The Holidays and Eric B. & Rakim.
Plenty of Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales will also be underway. A BOGO deal on select 313 Presents shows is available now through Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 5 p.m. Sport and entertainment fans can redeem tickets for Thanksgiving weekend shows like “Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical,” and future shows, such as “Sesame Street Live! Let's Party!” using the promo code “GIFT.”
